Water Utilization Programme
Objectives. The WUP Start-Up Project (the Project) would help the member states of the Mekong River Commission (MRC), Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam, implement key elements of the 1995 Agreement on Cooperation for Sustainable Development of Mekong Basin. The Project’s broad development objectives are to: assist the MRC to put a mechanism in place to promote and improve coordinated water management in the basin and among the riparian countries promote reasonable and equitable water utilization by the countries of the Basin; and enhance the protection of environment, aquatic life and the ecological balance of the Basin.
